There's a great review by Space Ramblings (type "space ramblings force awakens" into your search engine).
I fully understand that anyone who likes Abrams will gladly have sat through every season of Alias, Lost and Fringe rather than lose interest after the first couple of seasons. Some people like his style.
Right now we're experiencing full-on Star Wars madness in terms of marketing and hype. I personally have being going nuts for 6 months now buying figures and reading about the new film. I came out of the cinema feeling strangely unsatisfied. I loved seeing Chewbacca, the Falcon etc but the movie sure didn't feel like the previous ones.
As I reflected on the plot I realised it was a re-hash of the first movie right down to the Death Star, desert planet, secret info hidden in a fugitive droid, escaping on the Falcon... Of course it was familiar.
Try re-watching Return of the Jedi or even the prequels? The editing, sound and style are congruent with a Star Wars movie even if you don't like the film itself. The new movie is just an Abrams vehicle; like the 2009 Star Trek. It feels Abrams not Star Wars. In a decade maybe you'll see it too?
