The danger with The Force Awakens is 'sunk cost' investment. After months of hype and excitement, figure hunting and pining for the movie it is very hard to come to terms with the disappointment of the final product. I came out the theatre desperately trying to convince myself that the movie was OK. It just had to be, didn't it? I thought of Chewbacca's character development and sought to remember other good bits.
Contrast this with watching Guardians of the Galaxy or The Winter Soldier. No need for any effort there. Wow. They blew my socks off. And so many times. Again and again and again.
