The DVD cover and reviews make this movie sound like some sort of wondrous children's fantasy film.
If you think of yourself as being arty and open-minded, maybe you'll love the film.
Squalor,
madness and abusive parenting prevail in this oddly depressing, gritty
movie. There was no magic, lightness or fun to be found.

Robot & Frank
This odd little film was strangely engaging and really kept the interest for the duration of the movie.
Nice performances from the entire cast and a very unusual central plot. It manages to address aging and dementia without being depressing or boring.

Haywire
This film served to showcase the mixed martial arts primitive fighting
skills of the lead actress. It's a mindless martial arts movie sporting
some nice supporting talent (McGregor, Douglas) but ultimately revolving around fight scenes and stunts.
I couldn't figure out whether this was meant to be a superhero movie or not. The main girl had her head struck against so many walls, chairs and fists without suffering concussion that I began to suspect that she was some kind of superhero-spy character. Even James Bond is not quite this unrealistic.
Halfway through the film there was a token attempt to feminize the lead actress but this failed; with the result looking like a man in drag.

Superhero sequels eventually start to suck
The 3rd Christian Bale Batman movie really sucked and so did the 3rd Iron Man film.
Yes, it had its moments but after Avengers: Assemble this was a major let-down.
The ending of the film was a twist/adaptation of the Iron Man 2 finale. Why?
The main problem with the film lie with the excessive use of special effects during the finale.
As with Man of Steel the action was bewildering and ultimately quite boring; you we're dulled by the relentless chasing and shooting.
I dozed off.
As with Blade 3, Iron Man felt to have taken a step back and the suit itself (or multiple suits) became the star.
The unexplained cryptic ending was hurried and confusing; perhaps intended to snag my interest for Iron Man 4?
Well, it failled

Dieselpunk
Dieselpunk is an aesthetic style influenced by explorers, pulp
magazines, serial films, pin-ups, film noir, art deco, World War 1 &
2 and Hollywood's Golden Age.
Colours and materials include black, brown, earth tones, leather, wood, metal, canvas, chrome, wool, cotton, weathered, oiled, worn, rugged, tied, strapped, buckled.
-punk allows for a re-imagining of old styles and the celebration of the sensuous, tactile era that came before the widespread use of plastic and synthetic materials.
