Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock Holmes Christmas Special

We tried watching Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock Holmes Christmas Special. I couldn't believe quite how bad it was... If you've ever watched Jeremy Brett as Holmes, Cumberbatch is a very poor substitute indeed.

Cumberbatch was switched off halfway through after ham handedly mixing suffragettes, the occult, Holmes and purple robed Ku Klux Klan suffragettes....

Jessica Jones season 1 is Hamlet

Netflix Jessica Jones is based on the graphic novel/comic Alias; which is actually pretty decent. The TV show is not so great. It deviates badly from the source material and becomes a humorless example of how stupid and erratic women can be.
This is Hamlet re-told as a Marvel story. A crime that cannot be proven and a hero(ine) who is essentially a ditherer. You are virtually screaming at the TV for the heroine to act. Instead, she drinks like a fish, sulks, mopes around and behaves impulsively.

My first reaction is that this is a sexist, chauvanistic piece of work designed solely to make women look like total idiots. Every cliche is milked to death. But no... a woman actually wrote this TV show on purpose...!

Jessica Jones TV show

Did you like Jessica Jones? Have you read Alias comic?
Jessica Jones was adapted from the comic, and therefore changes/additions to the plot are very noticeable and often odd. Imagine watching a Batman movie where suddenly Batman is obsessed with baseball? Wouldn't that seem a little off? Incongruent?
Jessica Jones herself in the comic is a mess but in the TV show every relationship is wildly dysfunctional. The only heterosexual marriages/successful relationships were Hope's parents and Kilgrave's parents. Hope kills her parents whilst under mind control and Kilgrave kills his own.

Every other heterosexual relationship is a mess: brother & sister living together in a strangely noisy/violent incestuous (?) situation, casual sex between psycho cop/TV celebrity, between powered non-heros Jessica and Cage.
The whole Hogarth love triangle is a bizarre new element to the TV show. Jones in the comic gets work from Matt Murdoch. Hogarth was introduced as a new character. But why?
